Opening and Closing Ceremonies provide a focused way of acknowledging all in attendence and to set the focus and tone of our intention for the weekend. The Opening Ceremony on Thursday evening is the time that teachers and coordinators will be introduced and acknowledgments of our ancestors' gifts made. We will also provide an overview of the weekend vision.
The Closing Ceremony will take place Sunday afternoon to bring closure to the Happen'n. Specific times, program details and travel information are included in the Registration Packets.
The Happen'n Gallery is the place to explore the Women Who DrumTM Collection. These photographs, books, recordings, videos, and musical instruments have been gathered over the last 30 years by Leaf Miller, who manages the exhibit.
The Healing Circle is led by Ubaka Hill. This will be an opportunity for women to tap into their own inner healer and send that energy out into the world.
Blessing of the Drum Celebration is a multicultural celebration to honor the Drum. We do wear white clothes for this very special feature. A favorite piece of material can be brought to dress your drum, and a sweet candy or fruit as an offering.
The Happen'n Showcase will take place on Saturday evening. This is an opportunity for teachers and participants to perform musical and rhythmic presentations for the Happen'n community. Showcase participants will have 3-5 minutes each. A sound system with mics will be provided. Our MC for the evening's festivities is Michelle Crone.
The Happen'n Marketplace will be held indoors in the main gathering area (Drum Central). It is scheduled to be open during non-workshop times.
