Drum Central presents the Catskill Mountain Women's World Drum & Percussion Happen'n as an annual multicultural gathering for women & girls who are students of the drum. Learn the rhythmic songs, techniques and musical styles of the Conga, Djembe, Dumbek, Dundun, Frame Drum, Gyil, Sakara, Shekere, Tablas, Taiko, Bell, Berimbau, Drum Kit, Bells, Gourds and various world hand percussion.
The Happen'n is a special venue to develop a deeper sense of the traditional styles of West Africa, Brazil, Haiti, Japan, Cuba, the Middle Eastern, North Africa, India, Ireland, Native America, and original music of North America. Explore methods of music for healing, teaching, facilitation and performance. Move with African & Afro-Brazilian Dance, Maculele, Capoeira, 7 Directions Movement Meditation, and circle dancing. Learn to tune & repair your drum. Sing, drum and dance around the fire!
The Happen'n provides many opportunities for networking and music exchange while in a supportive atmosphere of women's drumming community. Experience the Blessing of the Drum, the Saturday Night Showcase, Vibrational Healing Circle, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Circle with others to sustain the Heartbeat Drum throughout the gathering. Expand your awareness of global women's drumming at the Happen'n Gallery of books, instruments, photos and videos. Explore instruments and handcrafts by the teachers & craftswomen at the Marketplace.

What's Happen'n...
 | We have a NEW LOCATION in Hopewell Junction, New York. It is a private lakefront adult retreat center with comfortable indoor accommodations, vegetarian and non–vegetarian meals, great snacks, multiple indoor workshop & jamming areas, a performing arts center. There is cell phone reception, heated pool and access to Sylvan Lake! All this is just 1 1/2 hours from NYC, 2 hours from Albany, and 4 hours from Boston by car.
